DETROIT – As Chevrolet’s Nov. 3 centennial approaches, it will launch two interactive web experiences at www.chevy100.com to personally involve customers, dealers and other well-wishers in Chevrolet’s 100th birthday celebration.
“These online experiences help us celebrate the deep connections Chevrolet has with its customers, the dealers who sell our cars and trucks and the communities where we do business,” said Chris Perry, vice president, global Chevrolet marketing and strategy. “We uncovered amazing stories, and we’re thrilled to have a fun venue for sharing them.”
“The Road We’re On” tells the history of Chevrolet through the eyes of owners, dealers and their communities. The site opens by zooming into a map of Bridgeville, Pa., near Pittsburgh, home of the Colussy Chevrolet, one of the oldest Chevrolet dealerships in the country.
The road map on the site will “pin” stories by location with an interface that allows users to view content from 1911, when Chevrolet was founded, to the present. It also will feature documentary-style “webisodes” about Bridgeville and the role Chevy has played in its rich history, along with a look at future Chevy innovations and its vision for urban mobility.
The webisodes will roll out weekly and culminate on Chevrolet’s Centennial, Nov. 3, with new site functionality that invites owners, dealers and other fans to share their Chevy experiences by “pinning” them to the map.
“The Ride of Your Life” connects with consumers at a deeply personal level, putting them virtually behind the wheel of a Chevrolet and taking them through their own life story in a fully immersive digital experience.
Visitors enter information or give permission for the program to read their Facebook profile for addresses, affiliations, hometown, schools attended and friends. The visitor then selects one of six classic or current Chevys for their “ride.”
A personalized video experience is created, using Google Streetview images mixed with detailed car close-ups and relevant footage. Animation and music are geared to the preferences of the user.
